Chapter 5
Daniel
"Honey? Do you have time for a break? Dinner is ready." I smiled softly at my mate as he looked up at me with a blank face.
"Dinner? Didn't we just eat lunch? I swear, time just flies when I get in the zone." Luke sighed and set his tool aside. He stood and stretched his neck from one side to the other as he looked down at the pile of leather goods on his workbench.
I walked over and put my hands on his petite shoulders. I used my thumbs to massage the knots that he always got right between his shoulders at the base of his neck. Luke's head rolled forward with a happy sigh as he yielded to my hands.
"How much more do you have to do, honey? This was an incredible project that you took on here. I can't believe that you made handcrafted leather Solstice gifts for every single person in both of our communities."
It really was amazing what he'd accomplished here. Luke had spent the past two months meticulously making leather cuffs, braided cord necklaces with star shaped medallions, and braided bracelets with sun, moon, and star shaped beads woven through them.
"It's a big deal. This celebrates the ten year anniversary of when our two communities joined together to battle the rogues. None of our people died, thanks be to Fenris. I think that it's past time to acknowledge that, don't you? And with so many of our people mated to each other now, we might as well be linked as one big community. I thought that these specially made 'Romeo' accessories would be a perfect gift to commemorate this special occasion."
"Romeo. I still can't believe you named your company after Ryan's old nickname for me."
Luke stepped back into me and tilted his head back onto my shoulder. His eyes went to the frame that hung over his workbench. It contained six dried roses that he'd pressed and saved from our courtship all those years ago.
"I keep telling you, babe. I did it because you're my Romeo, and your encouragement is the only reason that I took my hobby to the next level and finally made a business out of it."
"Maybe. But the talent is all you, honey. Now let's give your hands a break and get you two fed." Running my hand over his bulging baby bump, I pressed a kiss to his neck before turning to guide him out of the workshop.
"So I hear that there's a baby boom going on, huh?" Luke grinned up at me as we walked arm in arm to the house. "Is everyone having babies again? I'm pretty sure there's something in the water at this point. Either that or you alphas are all taking some sort of magic spunk pill."
"My favorite part is hearing that Micah and Aries are going to be grandfathers. A bunch of us guys are already planning to shower them with old man Solstice gifts."
Luke snorted. "In other words, you've put together a plan to torment our friends and roped your little alpha buddies in to help you pull it off.
